Presenting our February day party in one of London's most exciting and perfectly formed venues.
Our Time Is Now! is a monthly Saturday afternoon party brought to you by Wah Wah 45s label boss and renowned DJ Dom Servini with special guests joining him for a session for dancers and sedentary music lovers alike, celebrating the music they love. Whether it's disco, dance floor jazz, Northern Soul or even a touch of bruk, house or hip hop, it's all fair game at this new open-minded session.
Think Dingwalls meets The Loft and you get the idea of what we are aspiring to!
Rise, at Goldsmiths Student Union, is the perfect venue for this bi-monthly meeting of minds, bodies and souls, with its gorgeous wooden dance floor, bespoke Funktion One sound system and not forgetting a very reasonably priced student bar!
Following on from our huge first birthday celebration, we return on Saturday February 28th, starting as usual at 1pm, and this time Dom is joined not only by very special guest DJs in the shape of both Tru Thoughts founder and hugely respected Brighton DJ Rob Luis, and Kiss FM / Dingwalls legend Patrick Forge, but also by forward thinking eclectic jazz collective Melomaniacs, who'll be supplying some early doors vibrations. Plus, the incomparable Cyndi Handson will be on the mic, providing all the right vibes for this unmissable afternoon.
As usual, we'll have delicious Caribbean food being served all day long, alongside the new addition of vintage clothing from Planet JQ, and this month's guest record stall will be the amazing East London vinyl emporium, Rooks Records, who'll be serving up obscure jazz, soul, disco and more!
Please note, we are now offering a "family dance" from 1 until 3pm, when you can let your kids loose (within reason!) on the dance floor before the jazz dancers do their thing....
London has spoken and we've listened. We need more parties like this, and the right places to do them, and Rise is just that.
Entry is just £7 in advance / before 4pm / more after, £3 for NUS and kids are free before 7pm.
