Join GRAMNet in celebrating Refugee Festival Scotland 2026 for a creative workshop weaving together stories of home, belonging, and unity.
About this Event

This collective journey and tapestry making workshop will begin in Kelvingrove Park to gather materials that represent home, belonging, hope, and change, or in some way reflect our rootedness to new and old landscapes. After creating our shared collection, we will move to the university to print our objects onto fabric. We will end our activity by stitching together our pieces of fabric into a tapestry that represents the connectedness of our stories.

No previous artistic experience is required, and all are welcome.

The final work will then be displayed at the university as a symbol of our commitment to celebrating unity, forging belonging, and marking the landscapes that shape us.

This event is a follow-up to the event, taking place Thursday 18 June. We encourage participation at both, but it is also okay to attend one or the other as a standalone. Please join us for both events, the workshop you are most excited by, or drop in for part of the session. We look forward to seeing you there! Please search for 'This is your home' on Eventbrite to find registration information for this event.

Accessibililty note: For this actitvity, we will follow a route starting at the entrance to Kelvingrove Park at Kelvin Way and University Avenue / Bank Street. From here, we will follow the paved path into the park, crossing the footbridge to follow along the River Kelvin, and eventually loop back on ourselves to finish where we started. We will leave plenty of time for breaks along the route, and the total loop will be no longer than one mile, lasting no longer than one hour.

The route from the park to our workshop room is approximately 0.2 miles, uphill along University Avenue along the pavement. The building is equipped with lifts and stairs.
