I can’t quite believe that St Paul’s Sinfonia is now starting its 22nd season. Have we come of age yet? I hope so, in some sense – but I equally hope that we’re still bursting with the youthful enthusiasm and exuberance that we were displaying back in 2004!
The next season is as full of riches as any of our previous programmes. Our opening programme brings back the superb soprano Philippa Boyle, who has recently performed major solo roles with the Royal Opera House and Opera North. Philippa will be singing Britten’s song cycle Les Illuminations, a work that we absolutely love – we can’t wait for this! And in the second half, one of the all-time great Romantic symphonies - Sibelius's Symphony No. 2.
