Ottawa Design Club #0023 - Chaos

Chaos doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes you choose it. Sometimes it chooses you. Either way, you rarely know where it’s going to lead.

CHAOS: Vol. I is a speaker event and zine launch bringing together three creatives exploring what happens when life refuses to follow a clean path. Through very different experiences, they’ve navigated uncertainty, changed direction, let go of control and found ways to keep moving when the outcome wasn’t clear.

The evening marks the launch of the first of two CHAOS volumes, with talks that dig into what it means to live, work and create when things don’t go according to plan.

Willemijn Bunskoek is the Executive Director of Apartment613, a community-powered media platform connecting Ottawa to its arts, culture and local stories. Originally from the Netherlands, she has spent more than a decade working across the cultural sector, with a focus on strategy, programming and community building.

Yolande Laroche is a Canadian Taiwanese singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and music educator based in Gatineau, Quebec. She performs with Pony Girl and KAY-fayb, explores avant-pop through her solo project Orchidae, and produces experimental electronic music under her own name, Yolande Laroche. Their work moves between classical training, pop and experimental sound.

Izzy Poirier is a designer and creative director whose practice spans brand identities, publications and cultural experiences. She is the founder and creative director of Ottawa Design Club, where she has led the creation of its independent zine series, alongside exhibitions, events and other community-led projects. Her work explores how design shapes culture, community and the way people engage with ideas.
