Contemporary dance technique for Oriental Dancers / OPEN LEVEL
In recent years there has been a growing interest toward the idea of ’contemporary’ within oriental dance. Choreographic phenomenon such as Contemporary Raqs Sharqi (Oriental Dance) have emerged. In this workshop we look at those technical specialities what Contemporary Oriental Dance holds, and approach them through various exercises that include sequences / mini-choreographies. After this workshop students have a more clear understanding in relation to Contemporary Oriental Dance, its techniques, specialities and performance features.
12/5/2026 COPENHAGEN
18-21 (6pm-9pm)
Experimental Oriental Dance Choreography / OPEN LEVEL
During this workshop we focus specifically on an experimental oriental dance choreography, that requires deepening of performance skill, as presence. The choreography we approach asks how is a dancer present both in her/their movement and in space? How can we intensify this sens of presence through movement dynamics and in this way convey our inner worlds during the dance for the audience? After this workshops students have learned performance exercises focusing on intensification of presence and an approximately 4 minutes long choreography that can be used freely after the workshop.
