Sýningaropnun í Listasafni Íslands! 📢Við bjóðum ykkur hjartanlega velkomin á opnun sýningarinnar Ráðgátan um Rauðmagann og aðrar sögur um eftirlíkingar og falsanir, laugardaginn 12. apríl kl. 14:00.
Eftirlíkingar listaverka og ýmiss konar falsanir hafa þekkst frá fornu fari og enn koma upp fölsunarmál víða um lönd. Í mörgum söfnum leynast vafasöm verk sem hafa ratað þar inn með margvíslegum hætti og á það einnig við um Listasafn Íslands. Fölsuð verk sem eru í fórum safnsins hafa borist því á ýmsan máta en öll tengjast þau hinu svonefnda stóra málverkafölsunarmáli sem hófst á síðasta tug 20. aldar.
Með þessari sýningu vill Listasafn Íslands stuðla að vitundarvakningu varðandi listaverkafalsanir hér á landi. Á sýningunni eru verk í vörslu safnsins sem rannsóknir hafa staðfest að eru fölsuð, auk falsaðs verks í einkaeigu sem tengdist sýningu í safninu. Einnig eru sýnd ófölsuð verk úr safneign og lánsverk sem tengjast sögum sem hér eru sagðar.
Sýningarstjórar eru Dagný Heiðdal og Ólafur Ingi Jónsson.
Hlökkum til að sjá ykkur!

Exhibition opening at the National Gallery of Iceland! 📢
We invite you to the opening of the exhibition The Mystery of the Lumpfish and Other Stories of Fakes and Forgeries, Saturday April 12th at 2 pm.
Forgery of artworks and various types of fakes have been around since ancient times, and forgery cases continue to arise in many countries where large sums of money are at stake. In many museums, dubious works are hidden, which have found their way there in various ways, and this also applies to the National Gallery of Iceland. Forged works in the museum's collection have arrived through various means, but they all relate to the so-called "major painting forgery case" that began in the last decade of the 20th century.
With this exhibition, the National Gallery of Iceland aims to raise awareness about art forgeries in the country and provide guidance on what to keep in mind in order to avoid counterfeit artworks. The exhibition features works in the museum's collection that research has confirmed to be forgeries, as well as a forged work in private ownership that was connected to an exhibition at the museum. It also includes authentic works from the collection and loaned works related to the stories being told here.
The exhibition is curated by Dagný Heiðdal and Ólafur Ingi Jónsson.
We look forward to seeing you!
