No charm can stop what’s coming.Opera UCT brings Mozart’s Don Giovanni to the Baxter Theatre Centre for four performances only, from 22 to 25 October 2026.
Don Giovanni seduces, deceives and believes he can escape every consequence. But when he kills a young woman’s father, a force from beyond the grave begins to close in. Beneath the charm and bravado lies a man running from the one thing he cannot control: mortality.
Mozart’s music moves between dark tragedy, sharp comedy and moments of tenderness. Whether you know the opera well or are encountering it for the first time, its voices, music and drama bring you into a world where every invitation carries a risk.
The Opera UCT cast and chorus are joined by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in a fully staged production directed by Talia Stern, with sets and costumes by Allegra Bernacchioni, and conducted by Jeremy Silver and Peggy Wu. Stern and Wu are Jette Parker Artists at the Royal Ballet and Opera.
Opera at full force. Its future in the making.
