OPENING OCTOBER 9: Asger Dybvad Larsen and Kaare Golles - you stay alive, babyWe are pleased to announce “you stay alive, baby”, a duo exhibition by Asger Dybvad Larsen and Kaare Golles, opening October 9th at 4-7 pm.
In 2025, Cantina invited Asger Dybvad Larsen and Kaare Golles to exhibit as part of Under, a festival for artist-run exhibition spaces at SIMIAN. The result was the presentation “you stay alive, baby”, which took its point of departure from David Lynch’s 1986 film Blue Velvet. Cantina has now invited Asger and Kaare to further develop “you stay alive, baby” into a new and larger exhibition in our exhibition space.
The title of the exhibition, “you stay alive, baby”, refers to a central line from Blue Velvet. The film explores protagonist Jeffrey’s loss of innocence as he comes to recognise not only his own destructive desires, but those inherent to human beings, as well as the razor-thin boundary between our civilised surface and the untamed and potentially violent depths that lie beneath.
The exhibition is open from October 9 - November 8
We look forward to seeing you at the opening!
