⚔️ OPEN WEAPONS SPARRING & MARTIAL ARTS EXCHANGE ⚔️Different Weapons. Different Traditions. One Martial Spirit.
Cross Blades. Share Knowledge. Forge Friendships.
Join us at the Blue Siytangco Taiji Kungfu Academy for an exciting gathering of martial artists from different weapons traditions, coming together to test their skills, exchange knowledge, and build friendships through friendly, controlled weapons sparring!
This event is open to practitioners of Chinese Kungfu, Filipino Martial Arts (Kali, Eskrima, Arnis), Indonesian and Malaysian Silat, HEMA, and all other weapons-based martial arts traditions.
Whether your specialty is the stick, knife, saber, machete, sword, or another traditional martial weapon, this gathering offers an opportunity to explore your skills against practitioners with different backgrounds, strategies, and approaches.
🥋 THE PURPOSE OF OUR GATHERING
This is NOT a tournament or competition!
There are no trophies, rankings, or winners and losers. Our purpose is to create a friendly, cooperative environment where martial artists can challenge themselves, learn from one another, and develop their skills through practical experience.
We believe that some of the greatest opportunities for martial growth come from crossing hands—and weapons—with practitioners outside our own traditions.
Leave your ego at the door. Bring your curiosity, humility, and willingness to learn!
⚔️ OPEN WEAPONS SPARRING FORMAT
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in free sparring using approved training weapons, including:
•Single and/or Double Stick
•Single and/or Double Knife
•Single and/or DoubleTraining •Sabers and/or Machetes

Sparring partners may mutually agree upon their choice of weapons, including matched or mixed-weapon encounters, provided the equipment and engagement are approved by event organizers.
It is highly recommended that you bring your own sparring and protective equipment.
🛡️ SAFETY, EQUIPMENT & RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
The safety and well-being of every participant are our highest priorities.
All weapons must be approved by event organizers before use. Only appropriate, purpose-built training weapons will be permitted for sparring. No live blades, sharpened weapons, or unauthorized equipment will be allowed.
Required protective equipment will depend on the weapons being used and may include:
Approved fencing or weapons-sparring head protection. HEMA style fencing helmets are required.
Appropriate eye, face, and throat protection
Protective gauntlets. HEMA style gloves approved for hard contact is required.
Protective jackets or chest protection
Groin protection
Additional joint and limb protection as required
Participants must follow these fundamental rules:
Controlled contact only. Excessive force, reckless techniques, and uncontrolled strikes are strictly prohibited.
Mutual agreement. Sparring partners must agree upon the weapons, intensity, and permitted techniques before engaging.
Respect your partner’s safety. All participants are responsible for exercising appropriate control and sound judgment.
Respect the stop command. All sparring must immediately cease when either participant calls for a stop or an event official intervenes.
No intentional injury. Dangerous techniques, prohibited targets, and unsafe actions will not be tolerated.
Organizer authority. Event officials reserve the right to inspect equipment, modify engagements, or remove participants who disregard safety requirements.
Specific rules and protective equipment requirements will be established for the different weapons and sparring formats.
🤝 MARTIAL VIRTUE, HONOR & RESPECT
At the heart of this gathering is the traditional martial principle of Wǔ Dé (武德) — Martial Virtue.
True martial skill is not measured simply by one’s ability to overcome an opponent, but also by one’s capacity to demonstrate restraint, humility, discipline, and respect.
We welcome practitioners of all styles and experience levels who share these values.
This is an opportunity to celebrate what makes our martial traditions unique while discovering what we can learn from one another.
We do not gather to prove whose art is superior. We gather to help one another become better martial artists.
