Are you fibre curious and want to know more? Frothing to switch to handspun yarn for your knitting or crochet projects? Do you love to spin and are keen to do it with others? Come by the Micro Mill on October 10th for a community open day where we feature all things spinning - no ticket required. Pop by from 10-3 with your wheel or spindle to spin together and enjoy some drinks and special spinning themed kai from our cafe neighbours at Onk.If you're keen to give spinning a go for the first time we'll have wheels and spindles available to try out, with some teaching support around 11am.
If you're keen to deepen your practice with exposure to new ideas we'll have a couple of demonstrations around 1pm around carding and different kinds of wheels and fibres.
We have linen and corriedale rovings available in our shop - and encourage you to bring any extra wool you have for an all-day fibre swap we'll have set out in our space.
If you're keen to get exposed to another side of working with wool and sheep - check out our workshops on the same weekend run by guest craftswoman Imogen McRae (@moagen). She'll be teaching homemade tallow balm on Friday evening, sheep hide tanning at 4pm after the spinning day, and brikkevev on Sunday. Tcikets for these workshops are available on our website: www.micromill.org
