Alaska voters will decide this November whether to repeal the state’s open primary and ranked choice voting system.On Wednesday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m., the Alaska Landmine will host a live debate at King Street Brewing Company in Anchorage featuring two attorneys on opposite sides of Ballot Measure 2.
Arguing YES: Craig Richards, a former Alaska Attorney General who served under Gov. Bill Walker. Richards is an Anchorage attorney and supports repealing the current election system.
Arguing NO: Scott Kendall, an Anchorage attorney and former chief of staff to Gov. Bill Walker. Kendall was a principal architect of the 2020 ballot measure that established Alaska’s current open primary and ranked choice voting system.
The debate will be moderated by Jeff Landfield of the Alaska Landmine and Nat Herz of the Anchorage Press.
