Whether you are new to birding, enjoy spending time outdoors, love nature photography, or have been birding for years, you will find a warm welcome at the 2026 Ontario Field Ornithologists Convention in North Bay.
Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be an OFO member—or even an experienced birder—to enjoy this special weekend. If you love wildlife, photography, hiking, conservation, or simply being outdoors, this convention is for you.
This three-day event brings together birders and nature enthusiasts from across Ontario while connecting live with the main convention in Leamington. Experience the excitement of a province-wide gathering from beautiful North Bay.
Enjoy guided birding hikes on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, along with live evening programs on Friday and Saturday that connect participants in North Bay with the convention in Leamington.
Grow - Expand your appreciation of nature through guided birding hikes, engaging presentations, and opportunities to explore the diverse habitats and birdlife of the North Bay region. Every hike is led by expert guides with extensive knowledge of local birds, habitats, and bird behaviour, making each outing enjoyable and rewarding for both beginners and experienced birders.
Learn - Watch the live keynote presentation by Amar Ayyash, acclaimed author of The Gull Guide: North America. Throughout the weekend, enjoy presentations from experienced birders, naturalists, and conservationists.
Share - Celebrate with fellow nature enthusiasts as we join participants in Leamington for the live Annual Meeting, honour our 2026 Distinguished Ornithologists—John Black and Kayo Roy—and share in the excitement of one convention taking place in two communities.
Both evening events will be held at the West Ferris Royal Canadian Legion Branch 599 in North Bay, with free parking, wheelchair accessibility, and a cash bar.
