About this Event
Over the past year, Pillow Talk has been speaking to young people across Scotland about their experiences of hormonal contraception, the information they encounter online, the conversations they have with healthcare professionals, and the things they wish they had known sooner.
Those conversations have shaped a brand new co-designed zine about hormonal contraception, informed choice, healthcare and finding information you can trust. The zine has been developed with young people who took part in our listening sessions and co-design programme, combining lived experience with contraception education, media literacy, fact-checking and creative work. Along with that, we have also produced a series of recommendations for NHS professionals.
This launch event brings that work together in one place and creates space to keep the conversation going. The afternoon will include opportunities to hear what young people told us, explore the finished zine, take part in creative activities, hear from people working across contraception and sexual health, and spend time with others interested in improving the way we talk about reproductive health.
We are planning the event as a relaxed and welcoming afternoon with a mixture of discussion, creativity, entertainment and time to connect. There will be opportunities to look through the zine, hear more about how it was made, meet people involved in the project and reflect on what better contraception information and support could look like in practice. We will share the full programme and confirmed contributors closer to the event.
The event is open to anyone with an interest in hormonal contraception, including people working in sexual health, healthcare, education, youth work, community organisations and the third sector, as well as people who have their own experiences of contraception or simply want to learn more about the subject. We are especially interested in creating a space where young people, professionals and community organisations can be part of the same conversation.
About OnlyFacts
OnlyFacts is a Pillow Talk Scotland project exploring how young people in Scotland make sense of information about hormonal contraception.
The project began with listening sessions across Scotland, where young people shared their experiences of contraception, healthcare, social media and health information. A smaller group then joined a paid co-design programme and helped shape the content, language, structure and visual direction of the final zine. Their contributions have also informed wider recommendations about how professionals can better support people who are making decisions about contraception.
The launch will celebrate the people who contributed to the project, share what we learned and create space for further conversation about informed choice, trust and the quality of contraception information.
Accessibility
We want the event to be welcoming and accessible. Full accessibility information will be added once arrangements are confirmed, and anyone with access requirements is welcome to contact us in advance at so we can discuss how best to support you.
For now, we can share that the event will take place at Civic House, on their ground floor. There is a step-free ramp access located in the garage. This provides step-free access to the ground floor. The ground floor offers 1 x accessible toilet, 1 x mixed block with 3 open cubicles.
