This Masterclass is ideal for actors with some training or experience looking to deepen their work. In this workshop we explore what it takes to play an intention towards another actor, not just through text, but through the whole body. Intention is a physical, active pursuit of another person, and we'll examine how it lives beneath the words: in breath, in weight, in the space between two bodies.
This is technique in service of aliveness, not analysis for its own sake, but a tool that makes every moment on stage active, urgent and true. Come ready to move, to push and to play.
Trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Matti has worked extensively at the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare's Globe throughout her career, playing Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream and appearing in The City Madam, Cardenio, Henry VI and Richard III, before taking on Lady Macbeth in the Globe's 2023 production of Macbeth. She played Cariola opposite Jodie Whittaker in The Duchess (of Malfi) at the Trafalgar Theatre, and received an Offie Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in Brimstone and Treacle at the Arcola Theatre. Her stage work also includes The Crucible at Manchester Royal Exchange.
