In celebration of 100 Years of Leighton House as a public museum under the care of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are taking amazing workshops and activities ‘On the Road’.
Explore the history of the Arabic script, develop practical calligraphy skills and discover how to write your name in Arabic.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, young people are invited to learn the fundamentals of Arabic Calligraphy. Learn the basic strokes, how to hold the pen, form letters and craft your names in Arabic.
Nayab Ahmed is a London-based Graphic Designer, Calligrapher & Workshop Facilitator passionate about participatory practice, educational storytelling and challenging cultural histories. She specialises in print, typography and Arabic Calligraphy and educating others through workshops, focusing on craft and using our hands.
Useful information:
- This is a drop off workshop suitable for unaccompanied young people aged 11-18yrs.
- All materials provided.
- This workshop will take place at Kensington Central Library.
