Bring a poem. Bring a friend. Or just come listen.Every second Saturday, poets and poetry lovers gather at The Local Art Plug for the monthly Omaha Poetry Slam. Whether you're stepping up to the mic for the first time or cheering from the audience, there's a place for you here.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. | Open mic begins at 7 p.m.
$10 suggested donation.
🎤 WANT TO PARTICIPATE?
Everyone is welcome to sign up at the event. The evening starts with the open mic.
Open Mic
• Up to 5 minutes
• Share your own work or someone else's with attribution
Poetry Slam
• Bring three original poems
• Up to 3 minutes per poem
• Five audience members serve as judges
• $50 prize for the winning poet
Slam poems must be performed solo using only the poet's original words—no props, costumes, or musical accompaniment.

Our slams are all ages and committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive space. Participation at the microphone is at the discretion of event organizers.
