Relief polymer plates AND letterpress? Here you have it:
Relief polymer plates, the current industry-standard for letterpress printing, reproduce computer-generated files with great precision. Over two days, we’ll apply this technology to hand-wrought imagery for expressive results. Two design prompts and materials found around the studio will get us started as we learn how to create and process transparencies (negatives) and relief plates without going near a computer!
We’ll proof our images on the C&P letterpress, then add and subtract information to make more plates. As a group, we’ll design and edition a broadside made from sections of plates. Participants will leave with these collaborative prints, and a collection of personal reference materials (proofs, transparencies, and plates) for future projects, experimentation, and editions. This is a special and unusual workshop, taught by guest teacher Meredith Miller, from Austin, TX.
Date/Time: Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm with lunch break
Instructor: Meredith Miller- see bio below and website here: https://www.punchpress.net/
Cost: $350 (materials included)
