On behalf of The Nature Conservancy and the entire Solar Farm Summit community, we're thrilled to invite you to the inaugural Oklahoma Solar Summit. Join us on the spectacular OSU campus in Stillwater for 1.5 deeply enriching days of instructive and inspiring farming + solar programming — and two full nights of networking! Limited early bird registration is now available to join Oklahoma's burgeoning agrivoltaics community as we convene for an unusually open, constructive, and substance-oriented event squarely focused on doubling the harvest in the Sooner State by catalyzing agrivoltaics and ecovoltaics (AgPV) development.
AgPV is a homegrown strategy. It grows solar power and agricultural production at the same time. One farm, two purposes, working together. While AgPV boosts on-farm energy supply to meet rising electricity demand, it also delivers real agricultural gains in the field. And its benefits ripple outward—supporting farmers, strengthening farming communities, and reenergizing local food systems. In fact, AgPV is already giving solar farmers around the world the means to effectively double the harvest, achieving substantial in-field performance advantages across water conservation, livestock grazing, crop production, and habitat conservation — as well as enhanced resilience to extreme drought and frost events.
But AgPV isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. It must be adapted and implemented locally to achieve maximum benefit—in Oklahoma or anywhere else.
Oklahoma is blessed with abundant soil, sun, and a strong agricultural tradition—but it also faces real pressures from rapid economic transition, mounting global forces, and increasing challenges on the farm and to agribusiness in general. A perfect storm of economic growth, environmental constraints, agricultural difficulties, and energy deployment is converging in Oklahoma, whereby:
- Farmers and ranchers are facing intensifying threats to production, water scarcity, elevated drought and wildfire risk, higher irrigation costs, and rising input costs overall.
- Farmers, landowners, and farm communities are fielding new development interest from large data centers, industrial facilities, and energy infrastructure—including ground-mounted solar power—which all add to the pressure to develop agricultural land.
- Stakeholders across the Sooner State are finding new opportunities to solve hard economic challenges and avoid land-use trade-offs by implementing multifunctional agrivoltaics and ecovoltaics solar farm models — but they're lacking definitive best practices, policy development, project-level detail, and professional collaboration.
To connect the agriculture and energy dots—and connect stakeholders and AgPV professionals to each other—The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is honored to host the inaugural Oklahoma Solar Summit (OKSS) on campus in OSU's Alumni Center. Together we’re working to provide a constructive environment for attendees to share a robustly practical, hands-on, and Oklahoma-specific experience—including as a pre-conference workshop dedicated to cattlevoltaics!
