Join Cree Elder Gilbert “Gilly” and his Algonquin Elder wife, Dianna, for a meaningful and heart-centred drum making workshop. For the past eight years, Gilly and Dianna have shared their knowledge and teachings through drum-making workshops across British Columbia and Alberta. Together, they invite you to take part in this hands-on experience, where you will create your own traditional drum and handcrafted drumstick while learning about the spiritual significance of drums in Indigenous culture.
Each participant will create a beautiful 14-inch cedar-frame drum using buffalo hide. Throughout the workshop, Gilly and Dianna will share teachings about the traditions, meaning, and benefits of working with buffalo hide, offering an opportunity to deepen your understanding and connection to the drum.
All materials are provided, including everything you need to create your own drumstick. No previous experience is necessary—this welcoming workshop is open to participants of all abilities.
Come with an open heart and leave with a drum made by your own hands, a deeper appreciation for Indigenous teachings, and a meaningful connection to the spirit of the drum.
Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Please register by March 1st to reserve your place.
We look forward to sharing this special experience with you!
