A CELEBRATION OF MOTHER EARTHThere are many creation stories that have arisen from just about every culture. The most familiar is found in the book of Genesis in the Judeo-Christian tradition. But there are others. Ancient Chinese myths speak of a cosmic egg; the Maori people of Australia tell of the Sun Mother; Norse mythology recalls the thawing of ice bringing forth the first giants; a Lakota Native American story tells of the Creating Power forming the turtle that became the earth’s surface; In Greek mythology Gaia, the personification of the earth, was the mother from which all living things sprang forth.
Join as the Oikos Ensemble tells this reimagining of the Creation Story through Jazz and Story.
This concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to support the Music@AkronFCC Concert Series.
