As the light fades and the season shifts, the ancient wheel turns once more...🍁❄️On Saturday 24th October, as the veil between worlds begins to wear thin in the run up to Celtic New Year, we gather to mark Oie Houney (pronounced "Ee how nuh") 🇮🇲
Featuring beautifully costumed characters straight from your favourite Manx folk tales, Oie Houney begins with 2 torchlit processions; one representing Sourey (summer), the other representing Geurey (winter) and culminates in a quayside battle between summer and winter champions.
As winter triumphs, we celebrate the beginning of the darker months of the year with a vibrant and entertaining fire show from local fire performers Skimmee Aile 🔥
Supported by Douglas City Council and Culture Vannin, this fanily friendly, free event is making its debut in Douglas for the first time, and is one you dont want to miss!
