OI Armchair Travelers: A Journey to the Ancient Land of Persia

Join the OI’s Kiersten Neumann on a live Zoom exploration of enigmatic Iran, once the seat of the mighty Achaemenid Persian Empire. We will follow a route that leads us to some of the most monumental and significant archaeological sites of southwestern Iran, some excavated by OI archaeologists, including the prehistoric site of Chogha Mish; Chogha Zanbil with its lofty ziggurat; the Achaemenid centers of Susa, Pasargadae, and Persepolis; the cliffs of Naqsh-i Rustam, known for both its Achaemenid royal tombs and Sasanian rock reliefs; and the early Islamic city of Istakhr.
