Join us on February 12, 2027 as we ride 26 miles to honor and remember Police Officer Scott Matthew Baird: 1 mile for each year he was taken too soon.We will brief at 1600 hours and roll out at 1615 hours sharp. Average riding pace will be 15-17 mph. There will be one sag stop at Westside Park, and we will arrive at the candlelight vigil by 1900 hours.
Due to construction at the Police Department, we have to move this year's start across the street to the west lot (Google Maps: https://bit.ly/4frUbsy). The ride will conclude at Officer Baird's candlelight vigil behind Gainesville High School (1800 NW 16th Ter). After the vigil, we will ride back to our vehicles at the PD (1.7 miles).

Police Officer Scott Baird was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to move an obstruction from a roadway in the early morning hours.
The obstruction was a 200-pound batting cage that had been placed in the road behind a high school as a prank. Officer Baird was struck by the cage after the cage was hit by a vehicle.
Officer Baird had served with the Gainesville Police Department for two years. He had recently been named "Most Popular Officer" by local businesses.
