About this Event

After a stellar special at the Century Club, we're back in our usual home for a relaxed and inclusive chat with three speakers navigating careers across development, writing and producing at some of the most exciting production companies in the UK. Join us!

Ye-Ye Fadaka

Ye-Ye joined Sunburnt Penguin Productions as Creative Assistant in January 2025, where she supports the team editorially and collaborates closely with writers to bring projects onto the development slate. Prior to joining Sunburnt Penguin, Ye-Ye honed her skills as an Assistant at Tiger Aspect and Banijay’s Creative Networks team, where she also co-created and hosted an internal podcast. Passionate about storytelling, Ye-Ye was most recently a part of the 2025 cohort of 'Talawa Theatre’s Introductory Writers Group' and in 2024, was a finalist in the Enter Stage Write 'Amplified' scriptwriting competition.

Beatrice Hyde

Beatrice is joining Magnolia Mae Films as a Development Assistant this month, after two years working with writers and directors across TV/ Film & Theatre as an Agent’s Assistant at The Agency. Beatrice is a graduate of the MA Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media course at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Her first job in TV was as an Executive Assistant at RDF Television, part of Banijay UK. She then did some work as a Production Secretary for the live TV show Sunday Brunch/ Channel 4 before transitioning into scripted. Alongside these roles, Beatrice has been working as a freelance script reader for festivals and competitions, such as Edinburgh TV Festival, Shore Scripts and The George Devine Award.

Joseph Willis

Joe ( Pronouns: They/Them/’Our Kid’) is a Queer, Yorkshire Genre Writer whose work explores the offbeat permeating the everyday (think finding blood in your pick and mix or discovering that the big Tesco is a gateway to hell). Blending the grounded, the gothic and a darkly humorous, bittersweet tone to create macabre stories that deconstruct traditional power structures, relationships and settings to highlight the importance of non-conformity, self-discovery and found community .

Their spec scripts have been selected for the following schemes: BBC Writersroom Northern Voices, BBC Children’s Voices, Screen Yorkshire Flex, XR Stories Residency Labs and BAFTA Connect. They have also written for BBC Comedy Series The Amelia Gething Complex, had two horror shorts funded by the BFI and their comedy pilot produced as part of Sky Studios Table Reads. Alongside their writing they regularly provide script editing work for the BFI and currently work for Warp Films as a Development Assistant.
