Avant le récital de l'organiste et claveciniste français Benjamin Alard, cette conférence propose une immersion dans l'univers fascinant des œuvres présentées lors du troisième rendez-vous de l'intégrale de l'œuvre pour orgue de Johann Sebastian Bach. Au programme figurent les célèbres Chorals Schübler, le spectaculaire Concerto en ré mineur d'après Vivaldi et des extraits de la Clavierübung III, l'un des sommets de la littérature pour orgue et l'un des rares recueils publiés sous la supervision directe de Bach.
À travers des exemples musicaux et des anecdotes historiques, cette rencontre permettra de mieux comprendre le rôle du choral luthérien dans l'œuvre de Bach. Pourquoi ces œuvres comptent-elles parmi les sommets du répertoire ? Qui est le Bach transcripteur, capable de transformer la musique italienne en véritables chefs-d'œuvre pour orgue ?

Before the recital by French organist and harpsichordist Benjamin Alard, this talk offers an immersion into the fascinating world of the works featured at the third installment of the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach. On the program: the celebrated Schübler Chorales, the spectacular Concerto in D minor after Vivaldi, and excerpts from Clavier-Übung III, one of the towering achievements of organ literature and one of the rare collections published under Bach's direct supervision.
Through musical examples and historical anecdotes, this talk sheds light on the role of the Lutheran chorale in Bach's work. Why do these pieces rank among the summits of the repertoire? Who is Bach the transcriber, capable of transforming Italian music into true masterpieces for the organ?
