Of Limits Collective is pleased to present its inaugural exhibition titled Of Limits, featuring 11 artworks by six emerging contemporary artists from Southeast Asia, namely Lala Bohang (b. 1985, Indonesia), Okui Lala (b. 1991, Malaysia), Quỳnh Lâm (b. 1988, Vietnam), Kelly Limerick (b. 1991, Singapore), Hà Ninh Pham (b. 1991, Vietnam), and Crystal Sim (b. 1995, Singapore).
Held from 3 to 30 March 2021 at the newly renovated Stamford Arts Centre, the exhibition aims to generate public discourse on how existing socio-political fault lines have been magnified by the vicissitudes brought about by the global disruptions.
Of Limits contemplates the ability of art to make limits and boundaries visible, calling attention to and suggesting ways of opposing their restrictions and even prevailing over them. Such limits are discursively explicated through three layers: within the self; among the selves; and between the in- and out-groups. The artworks are presented across various mediums, including videography, drawing, crochet sculpture, installation, and new media.
The exhibition is curated by Of Limits Collective, recipient of the Platform Projects Curatorial Award overseen by NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore. The group consists of Sneha Chaudhury, Weiqin Chay, Ace Le, Jason Leung and Beatrice Morel — graduates from the MA in Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices programme at NTU School Of Art, Design and Media.
