🎃𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜🎃Join us 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟮𝘁𝗵 @ 𝟲:𝟯𝟬𝗽𝗺 for our MDR members meeting!
𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗗𝗥 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮:
✨First, 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 will be at the meeting virtually!
You know she’s been our Secretary of State since 2019 and is now running for Governor but did you know these things about her? —
🔵Jocelyn made history when she was appointed dean of Wayne State University Law School at age 35, the youngest woman to lead an accredited law school in American history.
🔵As Secretary of State, she has overseen a transformation of government services in Michigan including expanding online services, establishing programs to engage underrepresented voters, and recruiting 30,000 election workers.
🔵Speaking of running, did you know Jocelyn Benson has run 40 marathons? And she completed the Boston Marathon in 2016 when she was 8 months pregnant?
And now she’s in the biggest race yet—for governor of Michigan. She will be with us to tell us about her vision for Michigan and answer some of our questions.
✨Secondly, representatives from 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂𝗹 𝗘𝗹-𝗦𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱’𝘀 campaign for U.S. Senate and from 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 campaign for Congress in the 10th district will be with us as well. We’re excited about them both and many of us have canvassed for them. But now they are out there letting others know their visions for Michigan and for our country so they cannot attend our October meeting in person.
𝗢𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 -
What about the proposals on the ballot—should we revise the state constitution, and should we prohibit certain campaign contributions? We’ll have a brief presentation on them.
Plus, we’ll have a presentation on PoliMaps. (What’s PoliMaps? A way to easily find office holders and political events around our state.)
It is going to be an action-packed meeting and we can’t wait to see you there!
