Join us in the Irish Cultural Center Book Club. We’ll enjoy good craic and delve into Irish and Irish-American literature. This event is open to all, ICC Patrons and the general public.
This month's meeting takes place on Thursday, October 15 from 5:30–6:30 pm at the ICC. We are reading The Country Girls by Edna O’Brien. (Note: We will only be discussing the first book of the trilogy – not the memoir, which is called Country Girl.) Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to get settled, perhaps grab a drink, mix and mingle. Join us for a special dinner event after the meeting!
Due to activity at the restaurant the night of Book Club and the need to adapt a bit, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to have a pizza party to celebrate our youngest Book Club member, Mae, who turns 2 in October!
Following the meeting, we’ll be hosting a free pizza party with salad for Book Club members and their guests who would like to join us. The food is on us! You’re also welcome to order from the regular menu if you’d like.
No gifts for Mae, please! She already has the best gift of all – the wonderful ICC Book Club community. We hope you’ll stay and celebrate with us!
Please let us know if you’ll need gluten-free pizza so we can be sure to have enough for everyone.
About the Book
The country girls are Caithleen “Kate” Brady and Bridget “Baba” Brennan, and their story begins in the repressive atmosphere of a small village in the west of Ireland in the years following World War II. Kate is a romantic, looking for love; Baba is a survivor.
