Poet Bios:
Olivia Dorsey Peacock is a family historian and poet based in North Carolina. She is the author of but first, water (Charlotte Lit Press, 2026). She has received fellowships and support from The Watering Hole, the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, and the Arts & Science Council. She is a 2026 ASC Emerging Creator Fellow and has previously served as Charlotte Lit’s 2025 GoodLit Poetry Fellow and as a 2025 Goodyear Arts Artist-in-Residence. Her writing has appeared in Lucky Jefferson, The Petigru Review, Poetry Online (poetry.onl), The Westchester Review, and elsewhere.

JONATHAN K. RICE is the author of four poetry collections, including THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN (June 2026); all are published by Main Street Rag Publishing. Jonathan is founding editor of Iodine Poetry Journal, which he published for seventeen years. He served as a co-editor of Kakalak 2016, and Of Burgers & Barrooms in 2017. Also a visual artist, Jonathan’s poetry and artwork have appeared in numerous publications, including Gargoyle, San Pedro River Review, South Florida Poetry Journal, Vox Populi, and anthologies Southern Poetry VII: North Carolina and Hand in Hand: Poets Respond to Race. Jonathan is cofounder/former cohost of Waterbean Poetry Night at the Mic. He lives with his wife in Charlotte, NC.

We'll begin at 7:00 sharp & have a hard stop at 8:50 (venue closes at 9:00).
Following the featured program & a 15-minute break for book sales/signings, stick around to enjoy the OPEN MIC. Kindly support the venue & baristas, & the featured poet if you can.
OPEN MIC GUIDELINES:
Arrive by 6:30–6:45 to sign up in person. Spots are limited & go quickly. No holds.
Each open mic reader has (at host’s discretion) up to five (5) minutes on stage to share (read or recite) 1–2 one-page poems. Please keep intro/comments brief in the interest of time.
If you sign up to read, please stay to hear your fellow poets read. We build community through mutual support.
This in-person event is FREE & open to the public, part of Waterbean Poetry's monthly reading series that offers an INCLUSIVE, SAFE SPACE for all poets & friends of poetry. Bring a poem or two, a friend or three!
