October 10th BreastFest ~ "The Only Journey We Are On Is Our Own"
Join us as we celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month with one of our very own survivor-thrivers, Luann Swanberg, as our guest speaker.
Doesn't it seem like we are always searching, seeking, and comparing ourselves to other people and situations all around us and coming up short? If I only had better parents, a better job, better health, a more loving partner, more money, etc. Even when from the outside it may look like we have it all - there is this inner journey and then the cancer journey.
Lu will share her own life's journey, from Illinois to the Navy, Antarctica to California, alone to being a mom, single to married, and now helping to care for her mom and mother-in-law. Then there is before, during and after her cancer diagnosis and treatment.
It has been a journey that has taken her from focusing on what was happening outside, to the journey that has really changed her life - the inner one. It has been a journey of self-discovery, radical self-acceptance, love and care. A journey that she has decided to embrace, instead of resist, with curiosity, instead of judgement and looking to love and laugh a lot more along the way. What has your life's journey taught you and how are you loving, accepting and taking care of yourself?
BreastFest is held on the second Saturday of the month from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at River Ridge Golf Club located at 2401 W. Vineyard Ave. in Oxnard.
