About this Event

Selkies. Witches. Ghosts. Ancient legends. A doomed wedding.

This Halloween, discover a different side to Oban as we explore the myths, legends, ghost stories and darker history hiding around the town and its ancient landscapes.

Oban is a place where folklore and history have always intertwined. Uncover the unsettling legends of the Selkie folk, mysterious beings said to move between the world beneath the waves and the human world, and the Blue Men of the Minch, mythical creatures who were said to challenge sailors and attempt to capsize their boats. Hear stories of supposed witches, mysterious healers and ancient trees twisted into eerie shapes over hundreds of years. Discover the mystical Rowan tree, long associated with protection, magic and the boundary between this world and the next.

But Oban’s dark history goes back much further than legends. Uncover the stories of the Distillery Cave, an ancient sea cave underneath the town and discover the Rowan tree, long associated with protection, magic and the boundary between this world and the next. This Halloween, step beyond the Oban you know and discover a town of ancient mysteries, supernatural legends, tragic stories and a past that reaches back thousands of years.
