Everyone is invited to celebrate art and culture during Hispanic Heritage Month at the Glass Box Studio in Wausau! Inspired by the textile designs of Zapotec weaver, Wence Martinez, currently on display at the James Watrous Gallery in Madison, this free, drop-in community weaving activity highlights the connections between Mexico and Wisconsin through traditional artmaking.
Presented in collaboration by HOLA (Healthy Opportunities for Latin Americans), Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters and supported by funds from Wisconsin Humanities.
Participants will learn about Mexican weaving traditions and contribute to a communal piece and leave with a mini-weaving activity. HOLA will host an information table where attendees can learn more about their programs, services, and community resources.
All ages welcome; young children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration not required. Free. All supplies included. Drop-in anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 pm to join in the activities.
**Spanish and English instruction offered**
