About this Event
A Drawing Social Special Edition: Oak Gall Ink
Join us at Inkling on Sunday 29th of November where we’ll put aside the usual drawing materials and explore how you can work with nature to make your own ink using materials from our local Queen's Park.
Oak gall ink has been used for centuries as a writing and drawing ink. It is made from primarily from oak galls; hard, round growths that form on an oak tree when a gall wasp lays its eggs. There are other material additions which change the resulting colour, consistency and longevity of the ink.
In this hands-on session, Mo will share the history and traditional process behind the ink before you get stuck in and start experimenting.
No previous drawing or ink-making experience is necessary. This is a relaxed, practical session where the emphasis is on curiosity, experimentation and making new connections between ourselves, nature and our past.
