The IAU Office of Astronomy for Development turned 15 earlier this year. To celebrate this milestone, we will be hosting a hybrid symposium. Registration is now open for the OAD@15 Symposium.15–17 February 2027 | South African Astronomical Observatory | in person and online
Under the theme "Astronomy for a Better World: 15 Years of Impact, Partnerships, and Contributing to Sustainable Development", the symposium brings together the global community working in astronomy and development to reflect on fifteen years of the OAD, share lessons from projects and partnerships worldwide, and consider what comes next.
The registration form also lets you propose an oral presentation, poster, short video, or interactive activity across the following streams: Research; Partnerships and Collaboration; Innovation for Impact; and Implementation and Projects.
Deadline for proposing a contribution: 15 October 2026.
Registration for attendance remains open after that date.
