NWT Tastes and Traditions – February 25 & 26, 2025
Join us for NWT Tastes and Traditions, a cultural gathering hosted by the Native Women's Association of the NWT at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife. This special event offers an immersive experience into the rich traditions of the North, blending history, culture, and community wellness. This experience will be held over two single-day events, allowing flexibility for attendees to join on their preferred day.
Event Highlights:
Narrated Tour - Led by YKDFN Chief Sangris, explore the heritage and stories of the North through a guided tour of the Heritage Centre.
Drum Dance & Smudge Ceremony – Experience the powerful rhythms of the YKDFN Drummers as they lead a traditional drum dance and smudge ceremony.
Traditional Feast – Gather in the cafeteria for a comforting meal of stew and bannock, prepared by renowned Indigenous caterer, King Frybread.
This event provides an opportunity for meaningful discussions on health and wellness, all while celebrating the deep-rooted traditions of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation and the Indigenous peoples of the North.
