The Little Sisters of Hoboken are gathering with Father Virgil and a few talented student actors to put on a holiday celebration for their first ever cable-access program. Nuncrackers is a mix of lighthearted parody, mayhem, musical numbers, and seasonal cheer. Please come join the fun!Auditions for Nuncrackers will be held Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th at 6:00 p.m. for youth actors and 7:00-10:00 p.m. for adults on both days at the Historic Atlas Theatre. Callbacks (as needed) will be on Wednesday, October 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the Atlas.
Auditions are open to the community. Please be prepared to complete an audition form and bring a list of non-available dates to auditions. Performers should prepare a 32-bar musical selection in the style of the show that demonstrates both vocal ability and comedic storytelling. Do NOT audition using songs from the actual show.
Performers should bring accompaniment tracks on a Bluetooth-enabled device for playback (Bluetooth speaker will be provided) or piano music for the accompanist. Auditions will include a brief dance/movement and cold readings from the script. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.
Characters (adult ages are suggested only and may be changed at casting committee's discretion):
Reverend Mother Regina (40s–70s)
The feisty, no-nonsense leader of Mount Saint Helen’s convent. She’s sharp-witted, fiercely in charge, and not afraid to speak her mind—but has a warm heart underneath her tough exterior.
Sister Mary Hubert (30s–60s)
The dignified second-in-command, full of charm and spunk. She often tries to keep things running smoothly, but she’s not above joining in the fun or challenging Reverend Mother when needed.
Sister Robert Anne (20s–50s)
The street-smart, wisecracking nun from Brooklyn. Outgoing, bold, and always ready with a punchline, she brings a grounded and humorous energy to the convent.
Sister Mary Paul (a.k.a. Amnesia) (20s–40s)
Sweet, bubbly, and endearingly forgetful, Sister Amnesia has a childlike innocence and a big voice. Her unpredictable nature keeps the others on their toes.
Father Virgil (20s–50s)
A cheerful, good-natured priest with a flair for music and performance. He’s easygoing and always ready to lend a hand—or sing a silly song.
Students (10–17)
Four students are featured in the convent’s TV Christmas special. They sing, dance, and add heart and humor to the show. Note: Youth actors will audition from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on both audition days.
Rehearsals: Evenings on Monday-Friday from Thursday, October 8th through Tuesday, December 1st, with exceptions for Thanksgiving.
Performances: (Friday-Sunday) Friday, December 4th through Sunday, December 20th and one Pay What You Can Night on Thursday, December 10th.
