In and around Churchill, Manitoba and Arviat, Nunavut, on the shores of Hudson Bay in Canada, it follows the migration of polar bears driven onto land by the melted sea ice, searching for food. Always at a remove and without judgement, the film displays a complex arrangement of tourism, wildlife management and traditional culture, and the growing tension between human activity and the diminishing tundra that leaves less and less room for these charismatic, otherworldly bears.
With incredible photography from filmmakers Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman, and music by The White Lotus composer, Cristobal Tapia de Veer.
