Information about the NRC Volunteer role:
The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) is staffed and run by NUH and is the very first of its kind in England. Our ambitious aim is to transform the way rehabilitation following a life-changing illness or injury on a national and potentially international level.
The NRC is a 70-bed, state-of-the-art specialist rehabilitation centre for NHS patients, co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate (SHRE) near Loughborough.
Volunteers at the NRC play a vital role in supporting patients during their rehabilitation journey following life-changing illness or injury. As part of the volunteering team, you will help to create a welcoming, supportive and engaging environment, offering companionship and practical assistance that enhances patients’ wellbeing and confidence.
Volunteers will help patients to make the most of their time at the centre by supporting social interaction, encouraging independence, and enabling access to the exceptional facilities and outdoor spaces available across the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate. While some volunteering opportunities are accessible to people with a range of mobility levels, certain activities will require volunteers to be mobile and active, depending on the nature of the role.
Training and support will be provided by the member of staff responsible for the volunteer and will include an annual review by the Voluntary Services Department.
