La Colonia (Colony) di Annika Norlin
About this Event

(English description below)

Chi c’è dietro Accapo Club: Mi chiamo Nathalie.

Iscrivendoti acconsenti a comparirvi.

⸻

Colony by Annika Norlin is Accapo Club’s November book. The Italian edition, La colonia, was published in June 2025 by e/o, translated by Carmen Giorgetti Cima.

How it works: We read Colony throughout October, then meet at Catamé on 8 November to talk about it together. No formal presentations and no need to be an expert: the book is simply our starting point for getting to know each other, and from there, the conversation can go wherever it wants, between the pages and a little beyond. You can read it in Italian or English, and conversations at the club are a mix of both languages, since we bring together Italian and international women. You don’t need to speak either language perfectly to join.

The book: Emelie is thirty, with a job that leaves her no room to breathe and a life lived at full speed in the city, until one morning she can no longer get out of bed. She escapes to the countryside, pitches her tent in the hills by the river, and comes across a mysterious group held together by the charismatic Sara. Seven very different people, from different ages and backgrounds, live together on an isolated farm and call themselves the Colony. Emelie begins by observing them and taking notes, before gradually stepping into their world. It’s a novel about burnout, belonging and the power we have over one another. The New York Times named it one of the 100 best books of 2025.

What’s included: A drink, small bites, access to the private event, and an afternoon to finally say out loud everything that went through your head while reading.

Accapo Club: a women-only space. For women who love reading and often don’t have anyone to talk about books with, for those who have recently moved to Milan and are looking to meet new people, and for those who simply want to do something different and aren’t afraid to step outside their comfort zone. The club is designed to make meeting new people easy, even when you come on your own.

Who’s behind Accapo Club: I’m Nathalie. In Sydney, where I lived for a year, I founded a book club to meet people who loved reading as much as I do. Now I’m back in Milan and I’d love to create the same kind of community here. Visit us on Instagram, @accapo_club, if you’re curious to see what the book club was like when I was in Sydney.

Note: THE MEETING VENUE IS CATAMÉ MILANO (VIA VALLAZZE 20, 20131 MILAN). IF ATTO CAFFÈ APPEARS ON THIS PAGE, IT’S AN ERROR WE’RE CURRENTLY FIXING.

Please arrive on time <3 Spots are limited.

Photos and videos may be taken during the event for publication on Accapo Club’s social channels. By signing up, you consent to appearing in them. If you’d rather not appear, please let us know before the event.
