About this Event
The course teacher for our November course is Antonia Grove.
About the teacher
Antonia’s classes are rooted in physical language and play, drawing on more than 25 years’ experience as a contemporary dance and theatre performer, choreographer and facilitator, alongside more recent explorations of clown and physical comedy.
Across four weeks, we’ll explore how physical play, improvisation and clearly defined games can generate presence, responsiveness and comedy. Through movement, physical theatre games, improvisation and clown-inspired exercises, we’ll engage the imagination and give ourselves permission to play with awkwardness, failure and the unexpected.
The sessions offer practical performance training, with space to discover how these approaches might feed into your own practice.
About the Residencies
Each month, a different Brighton Clown School practitioner offers four weekly classes of their own teaching. The course centres the artist-practitioner and their own approach to making physical comedy and physical theatre, rather than a specific practice, technique or genre.
The course is firmly rooted in pedagogical rigour. As such, students shall leave the skills residency having achieved clearly defined learning outcomes that shall be communicated to them at the start of the course.
