About this Event
Vote smart this fall: Fort Worth Report, KERA and the League of Women Voters are holding candidate forums for the Nov. 3 Midterm Elections.
On Monday, Oct. 5, you’ll hear from candidates in the Tarrant Appraisal District race.
What is the Tarrant Appraisal District?
TAD is the government entity responsible for local property appraisals and tax exemption administration in the county.
Its nine-member board of directors hires the chief appraiser, votes on the budget and makes sure the district follows legal rules. Three of the members are elected by voters.
Why does this election matter?
This is the second time voters get a direct say over TAD board members.
Texas voters approve a constitutional amendment in 2023 that gave people the direct election of three members. Before that, the members were appointed by taxing entities. Now your vote can shape your property taxes.

Note: Throughout the week, we’re hosting multiple candidate forums for critical races impacting our readers. All forums take place at the same time and place.
- Wednesday Oct. 7: Forums for the Midterm Election: County Races
- Thursday Oct. 8: Forums for the Midterm Election: State Races
While time prevents us from having forums for all races, these are the ones we consider the most hotly contested and highest-profile. Candidates in other races are welcome to attend and mingle, but no candidate, regardless of forum involvement, is permitted to hand out campaign materials inside the building.
Free parking is located at Texas Wesleyan University's Lot E. Street parking is also available.
Fort Worth Report, KERA and the League of Women Voters are nonpartisan organizations.
