Call Kani Book Club: Read It Didn’t Start with You!
Join us in person to chat about mental health, healing vibes, and spiritual growth with the Call Kani Book Club!
Do you ever feel weighed down by fears, anxieties, or patterns without a clear source? Have you noticed the same struggles showing up across generations of your family? Interested in healing and self-understanding, but want an approach that feels grounded and real?
Join us for an open, judgment-free evening as we explore books that support emotional wellness, self-awareness, and intentional living.
This Month’s Pick:
We’re reading It Didn’t Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle by Mark Wolynn, a guide to understanding how the pain, fear, and unresolved experiences of our parents and grandparents can echo through our lives, and how we can begin to heal them.
Drawing on research in epigenetics, neuroscience, and family systems, Wolynn explores how inherited patterns show up in our bodies, relationships, and beliefs about ourselves. He offers practical tools for tracing those patterns back to their roots, so we can stop carrying what was never ours to hold.
Together, we’ll explore:
- How trauma and family patterns can be passed down through generations
- Recognizing the inherited roots of anxiety, fear, and recurring struggles
- Understanding how the body holds family history
- Breaking cycles with compassion instead of blame
- Honoring our ancestors while creating our own path forward
