NEW TO MAHJONG? JOIN OUR TWO-NIGHT BEGINNER CLASS!
Our Beginner Mahjong Class is designed for people who are brand new to American Mahjong or have played a little but still need help putting it all together.
Beginner space is limited to just 16 players so we can keep the class small and give everyone plenty of hands-on help.
$40 per person for BOTH nights ($20 per session)
Beginners register for the complete two-night class, and payment is due at the door.
You don't need to bring anything! We'll provide the equipment and supplies you need.
Over the two sessions we'll work through the basics, including:
Understanding the tiles
Reading the Mahjong League card
Setting up and dealing
The Charleston
Choosing and building a hand
Jokers and calling tiles
Playing actual games with plenty of help along the way
This is a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. You don't need to study beforehand or know a single thing about Mahjong before you arrive!

A FEW GOOD-TO-KNOWS
Can I come alone?
Absolutely! A lot of people do. We'll help place you at a table.
Can I sit with my friends?
Yes! Tell us who you're coming with on your registration form and we'll do our best to seat you together. Each person should complete their own registration.
Do beginners have to attend both nights?
Yes. The beginner class is designed as a two-part class, so your $40 registration reserves your seat for both nights.
Do Open Play players have to attend both nights?
No. Come one night or both.
Is this competitive?
Nope! This is about learning, playing, socializing and having fun. We'll have some lighthearted prizes, but we're keeping the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.
We will have tiles, mats and supplies for sale at the event.
Who is hosting?
This event is hosted by Mahjong And Me and sponsored by The Pines Pizza & Pub.
