About this Event
This workshop sits alongside Celestine's ongoing exhibition, Nothing But Pictures, at Barnet Library, and explores painting as a way of thinking and memory through image-making, process, and play.
Over the session, you’ll create two smaller experimental artworks, which will feed into one larger finished painting—all of which you’ll take home with you.
We’ll move between quick, intuitive mark-making and colour, creating playful pieces guided by me, using a mix of media including acrylic and collage. Drawing from my own practice, I’ll share approaches to working with colour, instinct, and layering to build expressive, characterful paintings.
This is a relaxed, hands-on workshop designed to loosen up your approach to painting—whether you’re a complete beginner, hobby painter, or already working creatively. You’ll be guided throughout, with plenty of space to explore at your own pace.
You’ll leave with two smaller studies and one larger finished painting, along with new ways of approaching your practice.
All materials and refreshments are provided. It’s best to wear something you don’t mind getting a little paint on, or feel free to bring your own apron. Just bring yourself and a willingness to experiment.
