Panel Discussion - How Do Fathers Shape Female Identity?
Spoiler Alert: Not Just Daddy Issues.
Join us for a provocative conversation on the lasting influence fathers have on their daughters, from identity and belonging, to body, sexuality, and the ways women come to understand themselves within the world.
Featuring Chris Kraus, acclaimed author of I Love Dick and The Four Spent The Day Together; Douglas Rushkoff, media theorist, author and host of Team Human; and Allan Shedlin, founder of the Daddying Film Festival & Forum.
Presented alongside Notes from Daughters, a group exhibition of U.S. and international female artists examining how father-daughter relationships are inherited, challenged, repaired and transformed across generations.
Come for the art. Stay for a conversation that goes far beyond “daddy issues.”
At a time when conversations surrounding gender, family, & identity are becoming increasingly urgent, Notes from Daughters invites us to reconsider the lasting influence fathers have on their daughters' lives. The exhibition reflects on how these relationships are inherited, challenged, & transformed, & how women across generations continue to redefine themselves & the worlds they inhabit.
