About this Event

Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans

Continuing this fall’s lecture series on the Jewish architects who shaped the built environment of New Orleans, architect Louis Kong turns to Moise Goldstein, whose buildings still define the city’s architectural identity. Going beyond biography, Kong treats architecture as artistic and cultural expression, reading Goldstein’s buildings for his design philosophy, creative intentions, and the social world he worked in, and showing how these structures continue to shape the city’s landscape and daily life today.

Co-hosted by the Tulane University's Department of Jewish Studies and Temple Sinai.

About the speaker

Louis Kong earned his Master of Architecture from the Tulane School of Architecture in 1986, receiving the American Institute of Architects Scholastic Award and serving as president of the Tau Sigma Delta architectural honor society. He also holds an MBA (1987) from Tulane’s A.B. Freeman School of Business. A New Orleans architect for 40 years, he is President of Louis Kong Architecture. His renovations of the Pink Lady and Seven Triple One on St. Charles Avenue earned National Register of Historic Places listings, and he is now restoring Elizabeth Werlein’s Nashville House; Werlein was a founder of the Vieux Carré Commission.
