How long is too long?In Nebraska, some incarcerated people have spent years in restrictive housing—commonly known as “the hole.” This event is about the human beings behind those doors and the conditions people can experience while living in prolonged segregation.
Accounts from people in restrictive housing and their loved ones have described severe restrictions that can include limited communication with family, very limited personal property, restrictions on electronics or electrical items for extended periods, and having to request basic necessities. These conditions do not apply to every person in restrictive housing, but they are experiences that deserve to be heard, documented, and taken seriously.
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, families, advocates, formerly incarcerated people, and concerned community members will come together for NOT ANOTHER YEAR.
📍 LINCOLN — 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Nebraska State Capitol
1445 K Street, Lincoln, NE
We will gather peacefully for speakers, family stories, education and awareness about prolonged segregation and conditions within Nebraska prisons.
Then we’re taking that message directly to Tecumseh.
📍 TECUMSEH — 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
Peaceful solidarity demonstration near Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
The purpose of the Tecumseh gathering is simple: to stand in solidarity with the people inside and remind them that they have not been forgotten.
We want them to know there are people outside those walls who still see their humanity, hear their stories, and care about what happens to them.
🚌 Transportation from Lincoln to Tecumseh will be available. Space will be limited, so advance registration will be required. You are also welcome to attend only the Lincoln portion or meet the group in Tecumseh.
🟠 WEAR ORANGE IN SOLIDARITY.
This will be a peaceful, respectful and lawful demonstration. Participants will be expected to respect property boundaries, keep roads and facility access clear, and follow event safety instructions.
Whether someone has been incarcerated for one year or twenty, basic human dignity still matters.
People are more than their worst decisions.
People are more than their prison number.
And people should not simply disappear behind four walls.
NOT ANOTHER YEAR.
Come stand with us. Come listen. Come make sure they know they are not forgotten.
