About this Event
Join Northeast Wisconsin Paddlers, Inc. (NEWP, Inc.) for their 2026 Annual Meeting at The Tarlton Theatre.
The meeting will begin with an overview of NEWP's 2026 activities, election of NEWP's 2027 officers, and a preview of 2027 activities. This year, instead of a guest speaker, NEWP is proud to feature two presentations from its own members, sharing stories from their 2026 paddling adventures. Enjoy dinner during the presentations.
Circumnavigating Door County – Josiah Lent
In 2026, NEWP member Josiah Lent set out to do what few paddlers attempt: paddle all the way around the Door County peninsula. From the sheltered bays of Green Bay to the open, often unforgiving waters of Lake Michigan, and through the notorious Death's Door passage at the peninsula's tip, Josiah's journey covered some of the most beautiful and challenging paddling in our own backyard. Join him for the story of the trip: the planning, the conditions, the shoreline, and the lessons learned along the way.
Rafting vs. Kayaking the Grand Canyon – Scott Thomson and Ken Braband
Two NEWP members, two trips, two very different ways down the Colorado River. In 2026, Scott Thomson rafted the Grand Canyon while Ken Braband took on the canyon by kayak. Together they'll compare their adventures side by side: big rapids, towering canyon walls, life on the river, and what each style of travel has to offer. Whether you've dreamed of the Grand Canyon or simply love a good river story, this presentation shouldn't be missed.
