Love All: Singles Padel Social

You can’t fake energy on a padel court. That’s kind of the point.
Here’s how it works. You’ll be paired up with a teammate of the same sex. Every round the men move to the next court, so there’s a new pair across the net each time. You’ll have a few minutes to work out whether they’re competitive, chaotic, or the type who apologises for every shot. Then the whistle goes and you meet the next pair.
After an hour you’ll have played against just about everyone in your age group. You’ll have shared at least one terrible miss, one ridiculous rally, and one high five over the net that went slightly wrong. That’s more chemistry than three weeks of messaging gets you.
Two age groups, one bar. Courts are split into Under 40s and Over 40s, so you’ll be playing with people at a similar stage of life. Sitting right on the cusp? Don’t overthink it. When the games finish, everyone heads to the bar together, and the night is open to anyone who caught your eye. Drinks are available to buy.
Never played? Even better. Being rubbish together is the best icebreaker there is. Nobody’s here to win Wimbledon, and a dodgy backhand is a great conversation starter.
Your digital match card sits quietly in your pocket all night. If someone made you laugh mid-rally, mark them. If they’ve marked you too, you’ll both know. If not, nobody ever finds out.
