About this Event
Join Plantlife's Ben Sweeney and Paul Rowland and others from the North Kent Woods and Downs National Nature Reserve at Ranscombe Farm Reserve in North Kent. The woodland across the NNR is a resource of national importance, and Ranscombe Farm is home to 135 hectares, including actively managed coppice and rich plant diversity. This will be a great opportunity to explore many of the issues currently experienced by us as woodland managers in the region.
Areas of discussion could include but not be limited to:
- Woodland biodiversity management and monitoring
- Maximising economic value of coppice and other woodland products
- Potential for integrating woodland management and the wider farmed landscape e.g. biochar, compost, Chestnut fencing, woodland grazing
- Climate change – impacts and adaptation
- Veteran trees
- Deer impacts and management
- Pest and diseases
- Science and research
- Public access, cultural heritage, and learning
- Landscape connectivity
Most importantly it is an opportunity to share knowledge, ideas, and experiences from your own sites. When you sign up, we will ask you what you'd like to talk about so that we can tailor the event.

This event is part of Plantlife's celebration of 20 years of custodianship at Ranscombe Farm. It is supported by Lottery players through the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
